How is amino acid surfactant being manufactured?

How is green surfactant is being manufactured?

Sustainable Beauty

Green chemistry, also known as sustainable chemistry, is the design of chemical products and processes that reduces or eliminates the use or generation of hazardous substances. (From United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). 2017, March 21. )

Amino acid-based surfactants, such as glutamates and alaninates, have a 100% Natural Origin Index and made from sustainable or renewable raw materials. Sino Lion’s amino acid-based surfactants are also made using an amidation process in aqueous solution. The process is a patented green manufacturing process and uses no organic solvent, hence eliminates the generation of solvent residues. This is unlike the sulfates or sulfonates manufacturing processes which are usually obnoxious with organic solvents and residues.

There is a momentum building around sustainable beauty concept in the personal care industry, from personal care giants to start-ups. The interest in sustainable beauty concept can be clearly seen by the strong turnout of formulators from our seminars in Philippines and Indonesia held in 2019. (See the following list for more details)

The amino acid-based surfactants that we presented in seminars resonate strongly with our participants who are working hard to create the next generation personal care products that take care of the environment just as much as they do for our bodies.

Looking forward to more sustainable beauty products in the near future?

We will share the safety profile comparison between amino acid-based surfactants against sulfates or sulfonates in the subsequent articles.  Do contact us to know more about formulating with sustainable beauty concept.
