Combat acne throughout all 3 stages of acne pathogenesis

0.5% of ACZERO is the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) that prevents visible growth of Propionibacterium acnes.

How does acne form? How to remove it?

Aczero

Acne is a common inflammatory skin disease that affects the pilosebaceous units of the skin. Without proper treatment, patients may suffer from severe skin scarring. Therefore, it has been researched extensively to develop potential treatment options.

Acne develops in 3 steps:

Step 1: High concentrations of sebum and keratinous material cause clogging of pores and in turn result in the formation of black and whitehead comedones.

Step 2:  Whitehead and blackhead comedones are anaerobic, lipid-rich environments that are conducive for Propionibacterium acnes proliferation.

Step 3: Bacterial colonization stimulates the generation of chemotactic agents which leads to the formation of inflammatory lesions like papules, pustules and nodules or cysts.

Combination therapy that targets multiple acne development stages simultaneously has been receiving considerable attention due to its higher efficacy compared to monotherapy. MahaChem provides a natural anti-acne solution, ACZERO that targets all 3 stages of acne pathogenesis. Continue reading to find out more!

ACZERO’s Anti-Acne Mechanism

Step 1: Inhibit proliferation of sebocytes, suppressing sebum production (Sebocytes are highly specialized, sebum-producing epithelial cells)

Step 2: Prevents bacterial colonization by inhibiting P.acne activity.

Step 3: Suppress inflammation by reducing inflammatory cytokine, IL-6 production.

Test and Studies on ACZERO

In-vitro tests proved that ACZERO is able to inhibit the proliferation of sebocytes and has higher efficacy compared to 13-Cis-retinoic acid which is an extremely effective drug for acne lesions! Furthermore, only 2% of ACZERO is required for significant results!

0.5% of ACZERO is the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) that prevents visible growth of Propionibacterium acnes.

ACZERO is able to suppress inflammation through the reduction of IL-6. IL-6 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that is strongly expressed in sebaceous glands of skin with acne and barely in healthy skin.

DPPH is used to measure the reducing ability of anti-oxidants towards the DPPH radical. ACZERO is shown to possess anti-oxidative properties.

According to the toxicity test, the addition of ACZERO has minimal effect on the percentage of cell viability. Thus, ACZERO is non-toxic to human skin.

In-Vivo Test Results

Further clinical testing on efficacy and safety was performed.

For efficacy testing, an in-vivo test was conducted on 11 participants at a dosage of 2%. As seen below, sebum secretion is reduced significantly.

Patch test was carried out on 31 participants and the results indicate that even with a dosage of 4%, ACZERO will not trigger skin irritation.
