1Zinc Chromate / Zinc YellowZ-82– Its anti-corrosive mechanism is that it enhances the corrosion inhibition of the existing protective oxide film. It functions as an anodic inhibitor and precipitates ferrous salts which provide a protective mixture of ferric and chromic oxides. Due to these excellent anti-corrosive properties and extreme efficiency even at a relatively low lading level, it is the most widely used inhibitibe pigment.
– Zinc Chromate are used in air drying alkyd, alkyd-amino, two-pack epoxy, polyurethane and chlorinated rubbers etc.
2Zinc Tetroxy Chromate (ZTC)Z-83– This pigment is mainly used in wash / etching primers such as the two-pack polyvinyl butyral resin type. This primer is sued as a base coat for non-ferrous substrates such as galvanized iron, tin and aluminium etc.
3Strontium ChromateSR-95– It is mainly used to protect aluminium from corrosion. Epoxy primer containing strontium chromate is the standard system used in the aircraft industry.
– It is often used as the inhibitor in coil coatings.
4Zinc PhosphateZP-84– This is one of the most widely used anti-corrosive pigment. It protects ferrous metals by phosphate ion donation, creates protective films on the anode, Zinc ions produce inhibitibe aqueous extracts when combined with certain oleo resinous vehicle systems.
– Zinc Phosphate has a wide formulation versatility. Due to its low solubility and reactivity, it is used in high acid value alkyds, acid cured baking systems, water reducible and high performance resins such as epoxy, polyurethane and chlorinated rubber etc.
